New developments unveiled for birmingham business awards

BPS Birmingham Future’s flagship event, The Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY), has launched its 2014 event by unveiling both an exciting new category and alumni website.

A Technology category has been added to the existing BYPY line-up designed to acknowledge the growing technology sector within the city. Professionals within this field are now encouraged to enter the awards which also recognises the talents of tomorrow working in Marketing and Communications, HR, Recruitment and Training, Finance, Property and Construction and Legal sectors.

In addition, BYPY has also launched a brand new alumni website designed to showcase every winner and finalist from each of the previous 13 years of the awards. Entitled, Legacy Lounge, the website will allow members of the BYPY alumni the opportunity to network, post details of relevant events and use it as a directory to find high profile delegates, speakers, panel guests and hosts.

Claudia Santillo, BYPY committee chair said: “This is an exciting time for BYPY and we are immensely proud to be able to introduce a new category that recognises and reflects such a growing sector within the city.

This is also the first time in the history of BYPY that attempts have been made to bring together its alumni and the Legacy Lounge represents some of the absolute cream of the crop of the city’s business professional and financial services sectors. We hope that the Legacy Lounge will underline the fact that BYPY is not just one night but is actually creating a legacy here in Birmingham.”

BYPY is open to anyone aged 35 and under who is working in Birmingham and demonstrates not only professional achievements but also a real commitment to the city. Finalists are interviewed by a panel of highly respected judges with each category winner and the overall BYPY winner announced at the main event, held at The ICC on Thursday 1st May 2014.

The overall winner not only takes home the trophy and a prestigious title, but also a place on the Common Purpose Navigator Course, a leadership course that brings together high potential, early career individuals from a range of backgrounds.

Nominations are now open, where the entry form can be found. Entries can be submitted directly by individuals themselves or by colleagues/clients wishing to nominate an individual.
